Walnut Square School PTO Meeting

February 7, 2012

Attendees: Lauren Towler, Siobhan Atwood, Gwen Miner, Alex Alvino, Mrs. Reilly, Mr. Estes

Jessie, our nurse, had hip surgery and we will be giving a gift from our sunshine fund.

Little Hands Big Hearts is sponsoring a Community Meals dinner on Monday, February 13th.  $68 has been raised so far.
We need to purchase Dr. Seuss hats for early March.
The teachers are still deciding on a spring field trip
NEEDED...... underwear and socks small and medium girls. For clothes closet.

Request from Mr Sargent and Mr. Estes for a snow blower $550 it has more horse power. Still to be discussed.

We will be purchasing another Elmo for the school and the school department will provide a 2nd.

Lauren Towler is looking into a family night fundraiser at a restaurant.

Treasurer report - we have $3,919.

Our next fundraiser will be the spring Yard sale tenatively in April!

NEXT MEETING TUES. MARCH 13 th @ 6:00pm. Mayor Fiorentini has requested to come to this meeting.

January 10, 2012

Treasury Report: The iPad raffle made a profit of $780.

Little Hands Big Hearts: For two months we will be collecting money to sponsor a community dinner in downtown Haverhill.

Projects:  We would like to resurface the black top play area and repaint it.  We will be buying new soccer balls for the playground.  We approved the purchase of an Elmo projector if the school department can help with purchasing a second one.

New Fundraisers: Lauren Towler and Heather DelleChiaie are looking into a February break Pilgrim Lanes family day.
 
Spring Yard Sale:  There will be a yard sale in the early spring. If you pay $25 for a table, you keep the profit. Or if you have stuff you would like to donate the PTO will come and pick it up. If you buy a table you can sell whatever you want i.e., crafts, baked goods, jewelry.
 
IF YOU HAVE ANY OTHER FUNDRAISER IDEAS OR COMMENTS ABOUT THE MEETING PLEASE CONTACT US. I know not everyone can make it to the meetings but please, you can still volunteer.
FYI - this is the last year here for most of our PTO officers. We will need parents to step up this spring and take the reins. This school runs on parents like you so please help.

December 6, 2011

Treasury Report: The Square One Art made a profit of $812.  We spent $175 on the book fair to pay for free summer reading books.

Little Hands Big Hearts: This month we will be having a troop drive.

Little Elves Workshop will be run by Audra Woitkowski. This is to give the children a chance to holiday shop for their family. The Staff Holiday Luncheon will be run again this year by Siobhan Atwood.

November 1, 2011

Attendees:  Audra Woitkowski, Lauren Towler, Melissa Kennedy, Siobhan Atwood, Rob Estes, Gwen Miner, Alex Alvino, Heather DelleChiaie

Treasury Report:  After the Fall festival pulled in a profit of $950 we have over $6,000 in our reserve.  We are working towards the purchase of school mulch        (which is different than regular mulch) and also some modifications to the play-scape area.  All the children just enjoyed a presentation from a  Paleontologist that came to our school.  They learned exciting facts about fossils.  The Second Graders will be going to Strawberry Bank in Portsmouth, NH on November 19th. 

Next fundraiser:  We will be raffling of an iPad 2 for Christmas.  Tickets are $10 a piece or 3 for $20.  We will be starting the raffle next week.  Keep your eyes out for more information.

Little Hands Big Hearts:  Eileen, from the school cafeteria, will be doing her food drive for thanksgiving. Next month we will be having a hat and mittens drive for our school.

The purpose of the PTO (Parent Teacher Organization) is to raise money to fund student activities, including but not limited to: buses for field trips, field day, and playground supplies.  The PTO also organizes teacher luncheons, book fairs, and the giving tree.

The PTO holds monthly meetings open to all  in the Walnut Square School.   

 We look forward to working with you during the 2011-2012 school year!
